SEND

Inclusive, Individualised Education for All Learners

At Collingham Kensington, we are committed to offering a supportive, flexible, and academically ambitious environment for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, and our tailored provision ensures that learners with diverse needs feel confident, included, and empowered to succeed.

Our Approach

We take a proactive, collaborative approach to SEND support, centred on knowing each student as an individual. From initial assessment to day-to-day learning, we adapt our teaching methods and pastoral care to provide both structure and encouragement.

Our SEND provision includes:

> Small class sizes to support focus and reduce anxiety

> Access to a qualified SENCo and learning support team

> 1:1 tuition where appropriate

> Specialist support for dyslexia, ADHD, ASD and processing difficulties

> Adjusted timetables and learning plans

> Support with exam access arrangements (e.g. extra time, readers, laptops)

Working with Families and Professionals

We value close communication with parents, carers, and external specialists. From the moment a student joins us, we work collaboratively to:

> Review educational psychology or EHCP documentation

> Identify appropriate support strategies

> Monitor progress and make regular adjustments

We also contribute to annual reviews and can liaise with local authorities to ensure continuity of provision.

Integration and Achievement

Students with SEND are fully integrated into academic and social life at Collingham Kensington. They are supported to:

> Participate in group discussions and collaborative learning

> Gain confidence in expressing ideas and managing their own learning

> Prepare for GCSEs, A Levels and higher education with personalised pathways

Many of our SEND students go on to attend top UK universities, pursue creative or specialist programmes, or successfully transition back into mainstream settings.

Pastoral and Academic Support

SEND provision is embedded in our broader support system, including:

> Weekly check-ins with a personal tutor

> Access to Study Skills workshops and coaching

> Regular academic reviews and reports

> Optional counselling referrals and wellbeing support

A Commitment to Inclusion

We believe that SEND is not a barrier to high achievement—it is a call for creativity, care and commitment. At Collingham Kensington, we ensure that every student receives the respect, resources, and recognition they need to flourish.
