Sestriere 2025: Collingham hits the slopes

The annual Collingham Ski Trip is always a highlight of the school calendar – a chance for students to combine challenge, adventure, and camaraderie in one unforgettable week. This year, students travelled to the breathtaking resort of Sestriere, nestled high in the Italian Alps and renowned for hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Part of Italy’s Milky Way ski area, Sestriere offers over 400km of interconnected slopes, with something for all ability levels. From first-time skiers to those already confident on the slopes, students found themselves both supported and stretched.

Travelling during the first week of the Easter break, we were fortunate with the weather: as the students enjoyed plenty of blue-sky days, as well as a heavy snowfall that locals described as the best of the season. They embraced every moment, from mastering new skills to sharing laughter after the occasional tumble.

Highlights included the progress made by our beginners and the confidence shown by intermediate and advanced skiers alike. Shout-outs to Alistair, Ellla and Bea for their boldness on the slopes, and special congratulations to Miles, who was named most improved skier of the week.

Though the mountains offered escape from the everyday, the Ski Trip continues to offer students the chance to grow, connect and create lasting memories. As ever, it was a pleasure to watch them rise to challenges, support one another, and return home tired, proud, and smiling.
