Personalised Pastoral Care

At Collingham Kensington, pastoral care is fundamental to the student experience. We encourage every pupil to speak openly, listen respectfully, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them. This ethos of personal growth is nurtured through the support of class tutors, Personal Tutors, and through our dedicated Pastoral Support Programme.

All students participate in our bespoke SELFHOOD curriculum, exploring themes such as citizenship, relationships, study skills, e-safety, and physical and emotional health. These sessions are designed to foster self-awareness, resilience, and a responsible approach to both academic and personal life.

Each student is assigned a Personal Tutor who monitors academic progress, provides pastoral guidance, and acts as a constant source of support. Personal Tutors maintain regular communication with subject teachers and work in close partnership with parents, ensuring a coordinated and holistic approach to every student’s development.

A Structured Environment for Success

Students in Years 9 and 10 are required to attend College from 9.15am to a minimum of 4.00pm daily. Year 11 students also attend from 9.15am to 4.00pm, with some extending their timetable until 5.00pm, depending on their subject choices within our Curriculum Overview.

Attendance is monitored at every lesson, and any absences or patterns of lateness are promptly communicated to parents. We expect students to adopt a mature, responsible attitude towards their independent study periods, supported by careful guidance from their tutors and Personal Tutor.

In instances where coursework is not reliably submitted, additional supervised study periods are incorporated into the timetable to ensure every student remains on track.

Academic and pastoral reports from both subject tutors and Personal Tutors are issued twice each term. Regular Parents’ Evenings offer valuable opportunities for further discussion, and parents are warmly encouraged to arrange meetings at any time to review their child’s progress.
