A strange drift in recent years has seen a fewer and fewer percentage of students doing foreign languages at GCSE with the consequence that these GCSEs are valued more and more highly. Along with sciences, Maths and a humanity, a foreign language is now seen as an indispensable part of a GCSE package.
The study of a language contains analytical, organisational and creative components and is therefore a strong indicator of a range of valued competences.
At Collingham we can offer a diverse spectrum of languages: French; German: Spanish: Italian: Portuguese; Russian; Arabic; Chinese; Japanese. These can of course be taken as GCSEs. They can also be taken as taster sessions to introduce students to the language.
