Religious Studies at GCSE should be engaging, modern, and designed to inspire. The OCR GCSE in Religious Studies 'B: Philosophy and Applied Ethics' does just that. It is based primarily on Christian philosophy and ethics but also provides a broad study of other world religions - Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Sikhism.
Students will consider the approaches and attitudes of no more than three of these religions to age-old questions, for example the end of life, good and evil and contemporary issues such as science, poverty, equality and the media to name a few. The course is also designed to promote a good knowledge of the diversity within each of the faiths on these important issues. Students will acquire the skill set to develop their opinion on this topic through critical evaluation and analysis.
