At Collingham, our teaching is built on the belief that students thrive in an environment where they are seen, heard, and intellectually challenged. Every aspect of our approach—from class size to exam preparation—is designed to support individual progress, foster academic confidence, and ensure meaningful, long-term success.
Methods of Teaching

Supporting Every Student
Some students benefit from additional support, and we provide this with care and discretion. Study Skills sessions are built into our curriculum at both GCSE and A level, and can be tailored for students who need extra help developing focus, organisation, or revision techniques.
We have a dedicated dyslexia specialist on staff, and our EFL tutors offer targeted support for international students preparing for university-level study in English. Where personal challenges arise, we can advise students on accessing counselling or other wellbeing support.
A Thoughtful Timetable
Our day is structured to maximise focus and depth of learning. Most lessons are two hours long, with a short break halfway through—allowing for sustained, in-depth engagement with each subject.
- A level students: 9.30am – 6.00pm
- Years 9 & 10: 9.15am – 4.00pm
- Year 11: 9.00am – 5.00pm (depending on timetable)
This format enables thorough coverage of the syllabus and allows students time to reflect, revise, and work independently between lessons.
