Politics in Practice at Collingham

On Friday 30 January, we welcomed Joe Powell, the local MP for Kensington and Bayswater, to Collingham. Joe gave a lively talk on democratic participation and public life.

He spoke openly with students and encouraged challenge and debate, including questions on voting, social media, student finance and housing. As a result, a lively discussion ranged from the enforceability of social media restrictions to why young people’s participation in elections matters.

At Collingham, politics is more than political theory.  Students are encouraged to question, challenge, and connect their learning to the real world.  We are grateful to Joe for demonstrating a clear commitment to local issues and to listening thoughtfully to younger voices within his constituency.

OPEN HOUSE - BOOK NOW

Come and see Collingham in action on WEDNESDAY 29th APRIL at our OPEN HOUSE.  This is an excellent opportunity to see us as we really are – a normal working day.  Talk to staff, have a tour with students and have a personal appointment to discuss your options with our Principal, James Allder.   Whether you’re thinking about a change of scene this September or beyond, we’d love to say hello.
