Revision Courses in London: Christmas, Easter and Study Skills at Collingham

Plenty of students are told to go away and revise. Far fewer are taught how. A well-run revision course closes that gap. It gives students the knowledge, the structure and the confidence to walk into an exam knowing what they are doing.

Collingham has been teaching in Kensington since 1975, and revision is a big part of what we do. Here is a plain guide to every revision course we offer, who each one suits, and how to choose.

What is a revision course?

A revision course is a short block of intensive teaching, led by subject specialists, during the school holidays. It is not extra homework. It is focused, taught revision in small groups or one to one, aimed at GCSE, IGCSE and A Level exams. Our revision courses are open to Collingham students and to students from other schools.

Christmas Revision: the early start

Our Christmas Revision courses take place at the start of the holidays, in mid to late December. They are short, intensive sessions that help students consolidate the first term and begin preparing seriously for the summer.

Students choose between a full day of small-group tuition or three hours of one-to-one teaching. Groups are capped at nine, with an average of three or four. Because the window is short, we focus on maths and science, and other subjects may be available on request. Each student gets a report with their progress and next steps. The sessions also give students a first taste of the longer Easter programme.

Easter Revision: the main event

The Easter Revision courses run over three consecutive weeks in the Easter holidays, with flexible subject combinations, so a student can take more than one course.

For A Level, each subject is four days of seminar-style tuition at six hours a day, 24 hours in total, with daily homework and individual feedback. For GCSE, each subject is four mornings or afternoons, 12 hours in total, with homework set and marked daily. Groups never exceed nine students, and one-to-one tuition is available. If a group does not form for a particular subject or syllabus, we teach one to one instead.

Students leave with personalised revision notes, a clear summer study plan and sharper exam technique. Groups are tailored to exam boards and, where relevant, specific texts and topics. Students and parents also receive a detailed written report at the end of each course. Discounts are available for booking early, booking repeat courses and booking as a group.

Study Skills: learning how to learn

Revision works better when the habits behind it are right. Our Study Skills programme covers time management and organisation, note-taking and revision techniques, essay planning, memory and concentration, and managing exam stress.

For students who need more, we offer one-to-one sessions that build focus and motivation, structure homework and revision, and develop subject-specific strategies, such as essay writing in History or problem-solving in Maths. Our tutors and learning support specialists also work with students who face barriers such as dyslexia or processing difficulties.

There are also Exam Skills days alongside Easter, specific to A Level or GCSE and to science or humanities. And every Collingham student has a personal tutor who keeps an eye on study habits and notices when extra support would help.

Bespoke one-to-one revision

Not every student fits a standard course. If a student needs a particular subject, board or schedule, we can build a bespoke one-to-one programme. Tell us what you need and we will tell you honestly what we can do.

Who teaches

Many of our tutors are Oxbridge-educated, and over 80% hold postgraduate qualifications. Many are permanent members of the Collingham faculty, so they know the exam requirements well and know how to teach to them.

How to choose a revision course in London

Whichever provider you consider, ask five questions. How big are the groups? Who is doing the teaching? Will my child get written feedback and a report? Will the course match their exam board? Will they leave with a plan? If the answers are vague, keep looking.

Where and how to book

All revision courses are held at our Sixth Form building, 23 Collingham Gardens, London SW5 0HL, a short walk from Gloucester Road and Earls Court stations. Places are limited, so early booking is strongly recommended.

To reserve a place or to talk through what would suit your child, leave an enquiry with our admissions team or Call Admissions: 020 7244 1860.
