Stephanie Childress, who will be going to St John's Cambridge to study Music in September after getting A* French A* Russian A Music, performed at the Proms last week as the leader of the National Youth Orchestra and First Violinist. The concert with Stephanie conducting the first piece (composed by Tansy Davies) called 'Re-Greening', as well as leading the orchestra for Mahler's 9th Symphony will be broadcast on the BBC this Sunday 16th August and afterwards available on i-player. The orchestra had previously performed the concert in Birmingham and at the Britten Festival in Suffolk and are now wowing audiences at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
Stephanie has just been made assistant conductor to the NYO.
