  • Young Art 2018: Collingham student
Congratulations to Kadija, whose art work ‘Berry-Beard’ (pictured below) has been awarded second place in the prestigious ‘Young Art’ competition run by the Royal College of Art. Kadija’s work was selected for the award given by Dr Paul Thompson, Rector & Vice Chancellor of The RCA from a large field of entries. Isabelle’s portrait (below) has been highly commended. • The Duchess of Malfi at the RSC
On Saturday March 17th, the English department braved snow, wind and ice to go see The Duchess of Malfi at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon. To see a play in performance that you have studied on the page is always intriguing – as the two are so different. This modern dress production boldly cut much of the text and excised characters, while also recasting courtiers as soldiers/IRA members and eschewing the original songs, dances and most of the exposition. It used incidental music in a f...

  • Great Collingham Bake Off
Our annual Great Collingham Bake Off took place on Wednesday 21st March. The event saw the study room dressed in bunting and doilies in true Bake Off style, and offered up many fantastic bakes. We enjoyed some expert judging from our past Collingham Principal and enthusiastic baker Gilly Green, and our Director of Studies Kerim Aytac (one of the perks of the job!). Both judges sampled all the bakes on offer, ranging from Principal Sally Powell’s courgette and orange cake, that won the ...

  • The annual Collingham concert
On Friday 16th March, the annual Collingham concert took place. Once again we saw the study room transformed from the students’ workplace into an intimate, subtly-lit music venue. There were a range of wonderful performances from our students and staff, including beautiful classical pieces from Simran, Theo and English teacher Rosalind Dobson to contemporary rock pieces by Joe and Cordelia . Each year the concert fundraises for The National Foundation for Youth Music, a wonderful ch...

  • ‘World Diversity Day’
Back in October, we held a ‘World Diversity Day’, celebrating our cultural differences both with Collingham and around the world. The event included a presentation on Globalisation by the student council and a ‘Guess the International Ingredient Challenge’, in which students were presented with a range of mystery ingredients, from the unusual dragon fruit to the almost indistinguishable spices from Asia and Africa. We took charity donations to enter the contest, and w...

We warmly invite Collingham students, parents, friends and family to join us for the occasion and help us raise funds for a worthy cause. We’re very excited for this special event a...

  • ‘Lady Bird’ at the Curzon in Soho
Last week, Film and Media students attended a showing of ‘Lady Bird’ at the Curzon in Soho. The Guardian describes the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe winning film as a ‘magical portrait of adolescence’. Lady Bird has a wonderful mix of funny and touching moments, and manages to gracefully navigate tough issues in a sensitive and light-hearted way. One of our students, Richard, said: ‘The film was thoroughly enjoyable and we all had a good evening out. I&rsquo...
