Congratulations to Alexandra Y. who has won the top prize at the Royal College of Art Young Artists Competition.
'Portrait of my Father' - Alexandra Y.
Alexandra F. was also awarded Highly Commended for her oil painting ‘Organic Forms’ and Hermione received the only Highly Commended awarded by Prof Chris Orr RA, for both the drawing entry and painting entry in her age group, for her drawing. Collingham Art student, Sage won second prize for his piece, in the Year 10-11 category.
Collingham College congratulates them all and is immensely proud of their outstanding achievements!
The competition for the prestigious Royal College of Art Young Art contest this year was harder than ever before. With less than half the space available, this meant that far fewer entries were chosen from a total of 7,500 by the eminent judges, including Prof Chris Orr RA (who judged GCSE work PICTURED BELOW), and Dr Paul Thompson, Rector RCA (who judged A-Level work) to be included in the exhibition.
Despite this, we had our most successful year yet at Collingham, with seven of our GCSE and A-Level students chosen to be part of the exhibition.
The competition is a wonderful opportunity for our student artists to have their work appraised by leaders in the field and exhibited at such a prestigious institution and we are proud of their success.
The exhibition will be held towards the end of April, at the Royal College of Art, and we strongly encourage our students to visit with parents and friends. The students’ work has helped to raise £87,000 which will be used in a project to research childhood cancer at UCL.
Congratulations to Alexandra, Alexandra, Gus, Bea, Alfie, Hermione and Sage (all selected for the exhibition) for their talent and hard work.
